My

Story

I'm a multicultural nomad, currently adventuring the globe in search of community and a more permanent home.

Suitcases, Airbnbs, and other people's homes have been my home for years. Working in tech, and briefly being a startup co-founder, has allowed me to live remotely and travel as much as I have. I say I am looking for a permanent home, but I've been on that search since I was 2 years old.

Born the son of a US diplomat, I grew up moving from one country to another. Both my parents also grew up in nomadic families. This means moving every few years is a generational pattern, making it that much harder to break.

At first glance, my nomad DNA has nothing to do with my career path. In fact, working in early stage startups means a constantly changing set of problems to solve. It's moving from one thing to another. Just like moving from one city to another.

I'm also very entrepreneurial. You can see more about my entrepreneurial journey in the diagram below, but in a nutshell I was the kid selling stuff from a school locker, the college student organizing paid parties, and later the guy coming up with new ventures in a quest to be financially independent before his 30s.

Today I'm mostly the guy who has realized that success and happiness do not exist in an idealized future state. Those can only happen in enjoying and making the most of the present. That's not an excuse to not set goals and take action to achieve them. I am constantly taking steps to achieve new goals. Enjoying the ride, while being consistent and honest with myself, is how I define success and happiness.

I'm most passionate about helping others. I consider myself a humanist who, despite heavy moments of cynicism, believes humans have the unlocked potential to create just "utopias" that exist harmoniously with our planet, and soon, within other spaces outside of Earth.

That may sound crazy, but "crazy" is the staple ingredient for everything in existence. The universe and our planet came from the fiery, nuclear explosion of the big bang. Billions of dollars in the stock market are made and lost because of human emotions. Chickens are the descendants of dinosaurs! Nike was started by a 20 year old who sold Japanese shoes from his car!

Everything, including our "crazy lives", is an exercise of setting order to chaos, until that order breaks into chaos again. It's a continuous cycle that we can either learn to love or choose to tolerate. Regardless of how we handle it, "craziness" will always exist, and I choose to openly recognize its existence in my life.

Despite these humanist dreams, and occasional tangents like the one above on craziness, I spend an inordinate amount of time eating, sleeping, washing dishes, and doing mundane things everyone else does.
